About Our Wednesday Evening ARES Net
All amateurs are invited to check into the regular sessions of the WIARC Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) Training Net each Wednesday evening at 6:45PM local time on the W9AWE/R repeater on 147.63 / 147.03 MHz. The repeater is located in Quincy, IL. Membership in the WIARC, ARRL or ARES is not a prerequisite.
The net begins by taking check-ins from all stations, followed by announcements, news of interest and comments. In the event of failure of the 147.63 / 147.03 MHz repeater, the net will be held on the 146.34 / 146.94 MHz machine. If both repeaters are inoperable the net will then move to 146.52 MHz simplex. All stations are encouraged to participate. The net is a good place to brush up on net procedures, and to catch up on the latest news in the World of Amateur Radio, both locally and nationally.
The Net Preamble is available here in pdf format.
